Don’t you wish the Transportation Security Administration would tell you how long it takes to get through security checkpoints at various airports? It seems that they are trying to build a tool to do that. How could they determine such numbers?
I found out today.
Arriving at O’Hare I found the American Airlines terminal mobbed. Literally all four TSA checkpoints had lines that backed up beyond the ropes that guide the queue. Rather concerned about making my flight I picked one line and got in. That’s when a TSA officer approached me, handed me a card, and asked me to give to the officer at the magnetometer. Who knew the TSA actually collected data by randomly timing a passenger in the queue?
How long did it take? Afairly impressive ten minutes – much shorter than I would have anticipated. Actually, the officer who handed me the card told me when he collected it that he had thought it would take me 20 minutes.
